| Shore power converter GPC 400 Everybody is familiar with the problem. Around the world, there are a variety of mains voltages and frequencies. Owners of yachts are particularly affected by this problem whilst in ports. An on-board electrical system designed for the European mains cannot be connected to the mains system in the U.S.A. The same is true in reverse. This means that even in port, the on-board generators have to be used to generate power. Engineers at JOVYATLAS have tackled this problem and developed the shore connection converter named Global Power Converter. The Global Power Converter automatically adjusts the onshore network to the on-board system, regardless of the shore voltage and frequency. The transformer can be operated in parallel to the on-board generators for a short time. This allows an seamless transfer to the shore connection. Once the shore connection has been established, the generators can be automatical shut down. The shore connection transformer is then responsible for supplying the ship with electrical power. This saves fuel, preserves resources and prevents unnecessary noise from running generators. ![]()
